Brief
Bio: The private clients approached Peter Dickinson Architects having recently purchased a stunning site which was occupied by a single bungalow in desperate need of renovation and revitalisation. The clients wished to make use of the large rear gardens and views of the adjoining woodland and create a modern dwelling that would be worthy of the stunning location.
Peter Dickinson Architects produced a design proposal that removed the existing roof and worked with the footprint of the bungalow to form a new first floor. This provided extensive double height and vaulted spaces with a first floor lounge that overlooked the rear gardens and woodland which benefited from the full width balcony with glass balustrade.
The simple use of monochrome materials, with a splattering of bright timber, allowed the previously dull looking bungalow to be revitalised with striking forms and crisp details whilst retaining the visual dominance and vibrancy of the surrounding site.
