Blue Stone Lane

Brief

  • To replace an existing dwelling
  • To complement and highlight the surrounding gardens

Bio: The private clients approached Peter Dickinson Architects with the intention of demolishing a semi-detached dwelling in the Green Belt and constructing a new detached modern home with detached garage.

The required dwelling would need to be modern in detail and materials but be sympathetic to the rural setting and local vernacular. the dwelling would also need to achieve high thermal performances, including triple glazed windows, and take advantage of the encompassing gardens.

Along with the client and the contractor, Peter Dickinson Architects were able to deliver a modern and flexible home, which responded to the immediate needs and requirements of the clients but would also succeed as a contemporary family home. The project took approximately ten months on site and was constructed to both the client and the Architect’s satisfaction and high design and construction standards.

The end result is a modern home, which far surpasses the original dwelling in terms of aesthetics, site setting and context.
